Research Philosophy We believe that light is not merely a medium for visualization, but a fundamental element for creating future information experiences and cyber-physical societies. LUMIAS explores future social systems and research concepts enabled by next-generation imaging and interaction technologies, while LUCIAS focuses on developing the underlying technologies themselves. LUCIAS ―Beyond Displays: Creating New Information Experiences Through Light Control
LUCIAS Light-Controlled Information Experience Platform Creating New Information Experiences Through Light Control Research Concept Conventional display technologies, such as those used in smartphones and televisions, primarily present information on a fixed display surface. However, future information environments will require new approaches in which not only display panels, but also transparent surfaces, materials, and surrounding spaces can become platforms for information presentation. LUCIAS (Light-Controlled Information Experience Platform) is a research platform that aims to create new information experiences beyond conventional displays by controlling light in innovative ways. By integrating optical technologies, functional materials, and spatial display technologies, LUCIAS explores new possibilities for: where information is presented, how information is conveyed, and how people experience information.
